District Taco Closes Out 2022 with Three Additional Development Agreements, Quadrupling the Brand’s Current Footprint
Aggressive expansion through Franchising continues with plans to open 70 locations throughout the Eastern United States.
FALLS CHURCH, Va. – District Taco, a fast-casual Mexican restaurant serving fresh, healthy, and authentic Yucatán-inspired creations, announced the signing of three development deals to bring 70 franchise locations throughout Florida, New Jersey, Virginia Beach, and the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
H&I FL Tacos LLC, who also signed the company’s first development agreement for five units in Northern Virginia, signed on to develop an additional forty units throughout sixteen counties in Central and Southwest Florida. ZG Tacos LLC will open ten units in Northern New Jersey, and Brothers Best LLC will open ten units in the Virginia Beach, Hampton Roads, and Tidewater areas of Virginia, as well as the Outer Banks of North Carolina. A fourth agreement was signed by a separate restaurant group securing future rights to develop Burlington and Camden counties in New Jersey. With the addition of these sixty-five units and five already in the pipeline, the company will more than quadruple its size within the next several years.
“Back in 2015, my business partner and I went to the District Taco in Alexandria, Virginia. Once we tried the food, we knew it was a concept we wanted to be a part of. Unfortunately, they weren’t ready to franchise at that time,” said Hicham El Abbassi, of H&I FL Tacos LLC. “Six years later, we were the first to sign agreements for five franchise locations in and around Northern Virginia.” He adds, “Today, we’re excited to add forty more District Taco locations to our portfolio.”
This brand was born of the ingenuity of Osiris Hoil and his neighbor, Marc Wallace and built on the American dream. Hoil moved to the United States from Mexico in the hopes of becoming an entrepreneur. When he lost his construction job due to the 2008 housing bubble, he combined his passion for Mexican cooking with his new American lifestyle. From its humble beginnings in 2009 as a food cart serving breakfast tacos, today District Taco has emerged as a leading fast-casual, authentic Mexican restaurant franchise.
Staying true to their comprehensive five-year plan to strategically open in one area of the country at a time, these three new deals ensure that District Taco’s seasoned support team will be able to provide the training and resources needed to open multiple restaurants in various high-growth markets. In preparation for the anticipated growth, District Taco spent the last two years streamlining operations to create an ideal franchise system that will facilitate rapid and efficient expansion. Key to their growth plan is to seek out experienced multi-unit franchisees with a solid footing in the restaurant industry.
“We are excited to partner with these experienced multi-unit and multi-brand restaurant operator groups who are committed to serving our style of fresh, authentic Mexican food delivered with superior customer service,” said Tina Gantz, District Taco’s Vice President of Franchise Development.
All of the three new franchise groups plan to open at least two new restaurants in 2023.
