
Jerry J. McPherson
Jerry J. McPherson is the managing partner of The Mathias Group, a public accounting firm providing accounting, income tax and tax debt resolution services for individuals and businesses. A highly ambitious and results-driven certified public accountant (CPA), Jerry has more than 15 years of professional experience spanning a variety of industries.
In addition to his public accounting practice, Jerry J. McPherson serves as the Director of Economic Empowerment for the Greater Phoenix Urban League. In this role he oversees both a workforce development program, which provides marginalized communities with career opportunities and skills training to be competitive in the evolving economy. and an Entrepreneurship Center which provides small business owners with the tools and resources to grow.
A Bronx, New York native, Jerry developed a passion for entrepreneurship and community at an early age which shaped his desire for financial independence. Dubbed “The Millennials’ CPA,” Jerry has created a niche for himself as a small business advocate and advisor, communicating his accounting and finance expertise in a manner which today’s entrepreneur can relate.
An entrepreneur and change-agent committed to empowering disenfranchised communities, Jerry uses his own story and experiences to empower others with tools to change their lives. He has dedicated his efforts to serving small business owners and those entering entrepreneurship.
In 2019, Jerry was recognized by two different publications as one of their “40 under 40”; the Phoenix Business Journal and CPA Practice Advisor. Jerry received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Virginia State University and is a graduate of the National Urban League’s highly-selective Emerging Leaders program led by Duke Corporate Education.
As a freshman, he founded Future African-American Millionaires, Inc. (F.A.A.M., Inc.), a non-profit organization geared towards fostering entrepreneurship and providing financial awareness to students and community members. In addition to his service to the community, Jerry is a veteran of the U.S. Military having served 6 years in the Army National Guard.
