FranchiseThis! Adds Game On to Development Inventory

Franchise sells and trades games as well as offers an interactive area in store where customers can play games, participate in tournaments and host parties and corporate events.

Virginia Beach, VA – Virginia-based FranchiseThis! has added video gaming franchise Game On to its stable of franchise development companies. The corporate mission of Game On is to be the leader in the video gaming industry as well as to be the primary source of gaming services including the selling and trading of games and consoles. Game On is committed to providing outstanding customer service by providing a fun idea in gaming retail and participation.

The company currently owns and operates 2 locations near its corporate headquarters in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Game On plans to continue its home state growth through franchise sales and is looking to expand domestically across the United States through a combination of Area Development and franchise sales.

“The gaming industry has shown no signs of slowing down and continues to surpass all other retail sectors. But what sets us apart in a seemingly crowded field are our unique streams of revenue,” said Game On CEO Wendy Carolino. “We sell the new and used games and consoles just like everybody else. But our interactive area known as the “Zone” is a totally unique concept in our industry and we have found it to provide a very consistent return while helping us also to attract and retain new customers.”

The “Zone” is the version of a new arcade where gamers can come in and play the latest games on one of the four 42-inch high-definition TV’s for an hourly fee. Gamers can also make reservations for LAN (local area network) parties for up to 16 players and the area can be reserved for birthday parties and corporate event as well.

The gaming industry has experienced explosive growth since 2000. In fact, the Entertainment Software Association announced that 2007 sales related to the video gaming industry were $18.85 billion. And those numbers were up over $6 billion dollars from 2006 same sales which had been the industry’s highest at that time.

"We realized that the gaming industry has surpassed the movie industry and will soon surpass the music industry," Carolino said. Carolino pointed out that the hit summer film "Iron Man" earned more than $100 million during the first weekend of its North American release. But it was eclipsed by the debut of "Grand Theft Auto IV," which brought in $300 million worldwide on its first day of sales.

Add to that, a recent 2008 Associated Press story reported that Americans spent $1.23 billion on video games, hardware and accessories in April alone, a nearly 47 percent increase over April 2007. But the April 2008 software sales were up even more at about a 68 percent clip, driven by the debut of "Grand Theft Auto IV.”
